Continuing their hockey careers after UML
Although UMass Lowell’s hockey season may have come to an end, several of the seniors refused to make this the end of their hockey career.
Within a couple of weeks from their final game against the University of Maine, a handful of players signed contracts with professional teams.
Some of the players in the ECHL, others have seen time in the AHL and a couple have even suited up for an NHL team.
Here is a list of players who are now on professional teams and what they accomplished so far.
Carter Hutton: Signed to amateur tryout contract on March 20 by the Adirondack Phantoms. Played four games, posting a 1-2-0-1 record with a 2.71 goals against average. Called up to Philadelphia Flyers on March 28. Was released from ATO on April 2.
Chris Auger: Drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 6th round (169th overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
Nevin Hamilton: Signed to amateur tryout contract on April 2 with the Providence Bruins.
Ben Holmstron: Signed to amateur tryout contract on March 17 by Adirondack Phantoms. Recorded two goals in ten games with the Phantoms so far.
Barry Goers: Signed a deal with the Las Vegas Wranglers on March 22. Has two goals and an assist in six games for the Wranglers.
Nick Schaus: Signed to amateur tryout contract on March 19 with the Worcester Sharks. Recorded an assist in two games for the Sharks.
Jeremy Dehner: Signed to amateur tryout contract on March 22 with the Norfolk Admirals. Appeared in four games for the Admirals this season.
