At around 8 a.m. this past Wednesday a UMass Lowell (UML) employee discovered a mysterious looking device in the stairwell between Cumnock Hall and Falmouth Hall. Wrapped in black electrical tape with exposed wiring and a piece of PVC pipe protruding it was suspicious enough to warrant alerting the authorities.

The classic saying is that one is an accident, and two is a trend. For UMass Lowell, three is a habit. The River Hawks reached their third National Championship game in as many years after defeating Stonehill College 2-1 Friday night at W.B. Mason Field in Easton, MA.

Not even a change in time zones could end the momentum of the fifth ranked River Hawks. UMass Lowell swept the Alabama-Huntsville Chargers over the weekend, winning both games 1,137 miles away from home in Huntsville, Alabama. The ‘Hawks started off the weekend with a 3-1win Friday night thanks to the help of a two goal game from Colin Wright. They followed that win up with a 4-0 win Saturday off of the second shutout of the season for Carter Hutton.

Senior Steve O’Brien and the rest of the River Hawks cross country and track and field teams are looking forward to Indiana for the NCAA Championship held at Southern Indiana University on Nov. 21.
“Nationals in Indiana should be a very exciting and intense experience,” said O’Brien. “A lot of fans make it out there from a variety of teams and its very nerve racking as well.”

However, timing is not Brock’s virtue, as it is the day of his tenth wedding anniversary, and the incident has also included his wife leaving suddenly, and all the kitchen help of this well-off couple to be MIA as well.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 dropped this past Tuesday in what has been called the biggest release of the year. The much anticipated sequel to 2007’s COD4 has been breaking records for pre-orders and sales. It is not hard to understand why either.

2012” is a glorious disaster. It is loud, obnoxiously superfluous, over-extravagant, and dumb as dirt, yet the one thing it is not, is boring. From Roland Emmerich, the overly-obsessed-with-destroying-national-monuments director, “2012” is a 158 minutes of concentrated catastrophe with overloaded everything, from the fairly impressive special effects to the horrendously hammy performances and dumbed-down dialogue.
