Dolphins nudge ‘Hawks from victory

Everyone was “thinking pink” this Saturday at Costello gym as the women’s basketball team took on, but fell to the Le Moyne College Dolphins, 54-57.

Hawks claim close victory over Dolphins

It wasn’t pretty, but the River Hawks were able to hold off the visiting Le Moyne Dolphins for a 59-53 victory Saturday at Costello Gym. Senior forward Michael Gore led the ‘Hawks with 19 points and six rebounds, and Le Moyne guard Jason Holmes led all scorers with 24 points.

Professors honored for service

Kay Roberts of the music department and Fred Martin of the computer science department have received the University of Massachusetts President Jack M. Wilson’s President’s Public Service Award. UMass Lowell was the only school to have two professors win the award.

Raising funds for Rachel Carnes

Rachel Carnes is improving and is listed in fair condition after last Thursday’s accident when a Dodge Ram hit her.
She was flown to Boston Medical Center and underwent surgery late into the afternoon. No charges have been filed against the driver of the truck, Jeffrey Hoban, of Dracut.

‘Hawks bullied by Boston

UMass Lowell was out-hustled and out-worked on Friday night, as the Terriers torched the River Hawks 6-2 in front of 4,074 at the Tsongas Arena. The loss is Lowell’s third in the last four games. The River Hawks currently find themselves in seventh place in Hockey East with a 7-8-4 record (12-10-4 overall).
