Being the season of giving, UMass Lowell’s Wiseguys Service Club will be sponsoring a drive on campus which aims to support newborns from over 500 local families in the Merrimack Valley.
According to acting President of the club, Sarah Varnerin, the drive, supported by the Lowell Wish Project Foundation, is accepting donations of all kinds to help fund Newborns for the New Year.
The River Hawks defeated Southern New Hampshire University 59-57 Thursday night after an intense competition that ended with one shot determining the game. They led the half 53-21, after shooting a .500 on the floor, but SNHU quickly caught up in the second half, making 20 points to the River Hawks’ 4 points.
For its second straight year, the Community Health Education Club celebrated the American Cancer Society’s Great American Smokeout. With free roses and information about quitting or helping others quit, the club’s booths were the only spots of sunshine on an otherwise rainy Thursday afternoon.
As the mating season for deer begins to heat up, more and more hunters turn to scents and calls to entice a burly buck into walking past their stand. While there are many imitation scents available, at least one scent product, doe-in-estrus urine, is exactly what it sounds like.
The mere mention of nanotechnology is enough to make any arts and humanities student quiver in their boots, but Dr. Todd Avery, an English Professor, is setting out to change that.

Perhaps the day-time shuttle bus drivers at UMass Lowell are trying to perfect their ability to multi-task behind the wheel, but it is coming at the expense of safety.

On Sunday, Dec. 2, the Lowell Poetry Network (LPN) will be hosting a poetry reading from a few of its members at the Whistler House on Worthen Street from 2 until 3:30 in the afternoon.
Beowulf has received an incredible amount of hype these days from moviegoers. Most of the criticism lies in contrasting the epic poem with the movie.
